McEvoy Ranch

McEvoy Ranch is an olive farm and mill. Nan McEvoy founded it in 1990 on a former dairy farm in Petaluma, importing 1,000 Italian olive seedlings ¹. The same page calls it a family-owned, 550-acre working farm ¹.

The olive-oil collection page says extra virgin oil is grown, harvested, and milled on that 550-acre certified organic estate in Petaluma, described there as Marin County’s rolling hills, with Italian varieties since 1990 ². Petaluma sits near the Sonoma County / Marin County line.

Extra virgin, in U.S. grading, is a voluntary USDA sensory and chemical grade for olive oil, not a slogan ³. Taste defects and fruitiness on Olive oil tasting; the ingredient is Olive oil from the fruit Olive. McEvoy describes the ranch as CCOF certified and says its oil is milled within hours of harvest.
